Feminist Vs Humanist

If you’re watching YouTube a bit lately, (Lets face it, we all are) You’ll be seeing a lot of vlog posts about YouTubers being sometimes converted, other times just speaking out about their views on ‘Feminism’…

As a child, I was lead to believe that feminism as a movement was all about equality, human rights for all and exclusion of the sexual and gender specific terms. More recently however, I’ve been pushed away from thinking that this is all flowers and sunshine, because of the deliberate and irrational way that so called Feminists are leading the charge against Men as a whole.

I am a woman.

However, I absolutely and completely do not  believe that Men are the issue.
I believe that the old ideals are.
The ideals that left women at home, with the children while their husbands were off attempting to control the world. I say attempting, because it would’ve been far easier and simpler having to do only half the work.

Today, males and females are getting their shit together and realizing that its OK to for Bob to do the housework and pick up the kids while Jane works on a Tuesday; and Vise Versa.
(I’m deliberately not involving the secular genders here, just so you know. It’s not that I don’t see them as also being in on this issue, its just that I honestly cannot be bothered typing an example for each one.)

The doctrineand the political movement based on itthat women should have the same economic, social, and political rights as men.

A philosophical and ethical stance that emphasizes the value and agency of human beings, individually and collectively, and generally prefers critical thinking and evidence (rationalism, empiricism) over established doctrine or faith (fideism)

The only difference I can see (from stripping back all the words, emotions and values of each ism and conducting this solely on what the dictionary tells me…) is that Feminism is for lack of a better term the guts of an everyday society which is sick of only half the population earning a decent amount.

Humanism on the other hand seems to bring to light the critical deliberating inherently needed and looks at creating a structured way of thinking, before tackling this brown nose thing we call ‘The world today’.

That, and the fact that 3/4 of the posts online about Humanism are based on religion:
The definition of religion used by Religious Humanists is often a functional one. Religion is that which serves the personal and social needs of a group of people sharing the same philosophical worldview. To serve personal needs, Religious Humanism offers a basis for moral values, an inspiring set of ideals, methods for dealing with life’s harsher realities, a rationale for living life joyously, and an overall sense of purpose.

Instead of a defining and characteristic way of allowing our society as a whole to leap forward, developmentally as well as physically and emotionally: We’ve done the opposite.

20 years ago it was: Christians vs Jews, then Religion Vs Atheism… Now its Feminism Vs Humanism.

We as a people, are still looking for that wonderful shooting star that will guide us to what we need to know. We’re not  however looking in the mirror, and seeing the possibilities for the world as we create it.
If We constantly want someone else to fix our problems, someone else to grant us clemency, and someone else to reward us; nothing is going to change, not matter who yells about it.
